The
European Association of Health Law will
hold its 4th Conference
(2013) in Coimbra/Portugal,
in collaboration with the Centre for
Biomedical Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.
The overall theme will be: Patient
Safety
“How familiar are
you with the concept of patient safety? Hundreds of thousands of patients are
harmed or die each year due to unsafe care, or get injured inadvertently when
seeking health care.” (WHO).
What is the contribution that laws and
jurists can give to ensure that access to healthcare is done in increasingly safer
conditions? How can they contribute to ensure that the patient gets better and
faster treatment?
What can laws and jurists do in order to
turn errors into opportunities to build safer health systems?
The
conference will consist of several keynote
addresses from distinguished
guests, and will also provide a
wide range of presentations carried out in parallel
sessions.
The organization invites experts to participate in these parallel sessions, which will be divided into three subthemes:

Oral Presentations: 15-20 minutes for formal presentations and slides + 10 minutes for discussion
Proposal Submission: Interested presenters should submit an abstract (250 words) summarizing
the proposed presentation and a short bio (100 words) by email (eahlconference2013@fd.uc.pt and cdb@fd.uc.pt) or fax (+351 239 821 043)
up to the 31st of May 2013
Submissions will be judged on relevance to the Conference’s general
theme, clarity of thought, creativity and suitability to the Conference’s
program
Notification of acceptance: up to 31th July 2013
